Blue Ridge Energy has experienced catastrophic damage to a large portion of our infrastructure due to Hurricane Helene.

Current damage rivals what we experienced with Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Blue Ridge Energy crews and all employees are actively responding to these outages and working in coordination with our Statewide Association, emergency response officials and others.

We'll be posting up-to-date information on this page and via social media and continue to work with news media throughout the restoration efforts.

Check this page often for the most accurate information available.

Key facts:

  • Significant portions of our 6,800 miles of line were damaged as a result of the storm.
  • Hundreds of poles were broken during Helene.
  • At the height of the storm, more than 63,000 members were without power (over 80% of our system).
  • In many areas, the system is being completely rebuilt from scratch as we discover our infrastructure is completely missing.
