For your convenience, there are several propane tank sizes. You can buy a small tank for your outdoor grill. Or much larger tanks that can be used for heating your home, cooking, heating your bath water and other uses.

Most homes use either a 100 gallon or 500 gallon sized propane tank. Generally speaking, the 100 gallon tanks sit above ground. The 500 gallon size can also sit above ground, or they can be installed underground. Some people don’t want to have to look at the tank day in and day out. While others don’t want to have to dig up their backyard. You need to make a decision on what works best for you.
