3 pm Outage Update
Blue Ridge Energy line technicians continue restoring power after over 2,500 members lost power due to last night’s severe wind and heavy rain storms.
Several locations of outages in Ashe and Caldwell counties had lengthier outage times as crews are having to wait on flood waters to recede in order to gain access to damaged power lines. Causes of outages across the system were caused by high winds and fallen trees outside of rights of way tearing down power lines.
In Caldwell County: 17 locations on the electric system were damaged, affecting 1,206 members. Outages began at 1:04 am Monday and as of 3 pm, all but 3 members were restored with power. Primary areas affected include: Patterson, Lenoir, Elk Creek, Kings Creek, John’s River, and Dudley Shoals.
In Watauga County: 10 locations were damaged, affecting 1,565 members. Outages began 1:17 am Monday and as of 3 pm, line technicians are working to restore the final 54 without power.
Primary areas affected include: Hound Ears, Deep Gap, and Aho.
In Ashe County, 21 locations were damaged, affecting 429 members. Outages began at 1:45 am Monday and as of 3 pm, crews are working to restore the remaining 11 members without power. Primary areas affected include: Creston, Beaver Creek, Baldwin, Shatley Springs and Obids.
In Alleghany County, 20 locations were damaged, affecting 536 members. Outages began at 1:28 am Monday and as of 3 pm, line technicians were working to restore the final member remaining without power. Primary areas affected include: Glade Valley, Sparta, and Ellis.
Blue Ridge Energy has also sent crews to assist sister cooperative Energy United, headquartered in Statesville, whose service area was much more severely impacted.
Blue Ridge Energy reminds members to report all outages by calling PowerLine at 1-800-448-2383, by using the Blue Ridge Energy mobile app, or, if signed up for outage texting members can report outages by text (for more information on outage texting, visit: www.blueridgeenergy.com/resources/electric-outage-texting).
