Outages to be Fully Restored Wednesday Night
All members should be restored with power by tonight after a full force effort by Blue Ridge Energy and visiting line technicians.
Linemen have restored power to over 12,000 members and as of 4 pm, a final 58 remain: 29 in Caldwell County, 15 in Alexander County and 14 in Alleghany County.
The cooperative’s electric system was severely damaged by Monday’s storm that packed hurricane force winds, heavy rain that caused flooding in many locations, and brought down trees and limbs that tore down power poles and lines and blocked roads, homes and many outage locations. Crews had to cut their way into many outage locations.
“We’ve worked as quickly and safely as possible to restore power with over 150 linemen,” said Robert Kent, director of operations. “”We still urge members and the public to be extremely cautious around downed trees or limbs and to never touch a downed line of any kind, under any circumstances,” Kent said.
Report downed power lines or trees and limbs on power lines to Blue Ridge Energy at 1-800-451-5474. Stay far away from any downed line! Downed power lines can still be energized and therefore dangerous or even deadly.
Kent also expressed appreciation for vising crews assisting Blue Ridge Energy from: French Broad EMC, Union Power Cooperative, Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative of Pickens, SC, Haynes Electric Utility, and Sumter Utilities.
